AUSTIN, Texas — Citing his love for dipping, an Austin man drained the water from his pool and filled it instead with Stubb’s Original Bar-B-Q Sauce earlier this week to set the world record for total laps swam in a condiment. “I wanted to prove that I’m the biggest sauce fan there is, and I figured the best way to do that was to set a world record. Now I’m officially Stubb’s Bar-B-Q’s biggest fan in the world,” said bar-b-q aficionado Chuck Burrall.
The hard part wasn’t setting the record, according to Burrall, but finding, opening and pouring 128,000 bottles of Stubb’s Original Bar-B-Q Sauce into his pool. After he completed his record-setting 55 laps, he celebrated by holding a backyard bar-b-q, of course. He explained, “I don’t know how else to get this stuff out of my pool, and I wouldn’t be much of a fan if I let a drop of Stubb’s go to waste.” Burrall is still unsure how to remove the rich red stain or intoxicating smell from the pool, but says his love for sauce means “those are hardly real problems.”
