Stubb’s Smokey Gluten Free Pasta Bake

If Stubb’s Chicken Rub is unavailable in your area, substitute with 2 teaspoons thyme, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, ½ teaspoon ground mustard, 1 teaspoon sugar and salt and pepper to taste.

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 pound 90% Lean Ground Beef
  • 4 tablespoon Stubb’s Chicken Spice Rub*
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cup Stubb's® Smokey Mesquite Bar-B-Q Sauce
  • 1 15 oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 pound gluten free ziti or penne pasta
  • 1/2 pound grated smoked mozzarella
  • Pinch of salt


  • In a large stock pot boil water with a pinch of salt. Once boiling, add in pasta and cook until pasta is cooked all the way through. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

  • Add olive oil, ground beef, and diced onion to a skillet. Season with 1 tablespoon of chicken rub. Cook over medium high heat until meat is browned. Add tomato sauce, diced tomato, tomato paste, and barbecue sauce. Bring to a slow simmer and add in 3 tablespoons of chicken rub. Stir and let simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Combine the sauce and pasta in a large casserole dish and mix. Top with shredded cheese and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
